When we moved into our house, we had little furniture and definitely no TV stand. I had my eyes on the West Elm Quinn media console, but it was not in our budget! I needed something similar and turned to Facebook Marketplace. It’s a go-to of mine for finding inexpensive furniture. I ended up getting this IKEA console for $90!

It worked out perfectly in my living room, except… it turned out to be a bit of an eyesore when you can see through the frosted glass! Rather than replacing it, I decided to give it a quick makeover. I knew I needed to just cover the glass part and thought through a few options. To keep with a boho or modern design, I looked at wood or rattan. Then I stumbled across a ton of pole wrap DIYs and knew THIS is the way to go. It was the EASIEST Fluted TV stand DIY and I can’t believe it turned out so good! It completely transformed the TV stand and made it look *expensive*!
Here’s a quick video of how I did it!

How to update your TV Stand with pole wrap

I spray painted the silver trim on the tv stand gold and also the finger pull handles so they match. (I’m a pretty messy painter, but figured it would be covered by pole wrap any way!)

- Measure the amount of pole wrap you need. The drawers are about 48″ long each, and with the pole wrap being 16″, I needed about 2.5 pieces for each drawer.
- Cut the pole wrap by rolling it up and using a hand saw or miter saw to trim it down to the size you need. Then you can use a razor to cut between the lines to cut to size.
- Make sure it fits!
- Use construction adhesive to glue on the pole wrap to the glass. Press out all of the air pockets and hold the pole wrap against the glass for a few seconds to make sure it’s on there. I left it on overnight before messing with it again.
- Install the finger pull handles by drilling behind the drawer doors.

Here’s a Facebook Marketplace tip, if something has been listed for a week or if they mention they are moving or need to sell it soon, you may be able to negotiate for a lower price if you’re 100% sure you want it and will pick it up immediately. The seller was offering it for $150, but knowing she needed it out ASAP, I wrote her saying if she would come down on the price, I would pick it up immediately. She said yes right away and I was on my way!
