This arched curio has become one of my favorite pieces in my home! Saying I’m obsessed with it is just an understatement. I found it at a consignment store in St. Pete FL, Deja Vu Consignment Furniture, and it was in perfect condition! All it needed was a little paint and a new home.
With our house at 900 sqft and little storage, I was looking for something that gave me height and more room to store dinnerware, glasses and serving dishes that are all overflowing from my kitchen. The console that was here before had doors that were too wide that when we try to open it all the way, it would hit the dining room chairs. It was great for our bar set up and decor, but there was so much wall space above the console that could be better used. I thought about adding floating shelves, but didn’t want this small space to look too cluttered.
I’ve been incorporating more rounded pieces of furniture to balance out the others that have square edges.

To paint this arch cabinet black, I prepped it by filling in the holes and cracks with wood filler and sanded everything down with 220 grit sandpaper. Then I used liquid mask and peel on the glass panes instead of painter’s tape. This product is paints on white and dries clear (takes about 30 mins), then you can go crazy and paint without worrying about making a mess. The BEST part of this is the satisfaction of peeling off the mask when you’re done painting.
The paint I used is Fusion Mineral Paint in Coal Black. It was the first time I used this paint, and now I know why anyone who has ever used it raves about it. I LOVE it! It goes on with minimal prep work (no priming needed, but would still do it if you have trust issues with paint) and it gives off virtually no odor.
