Baby’s Breath Bouquet Tutorial

The baby’s breath aesthetic is a beautiful wedding trend right now. I’ve seen it where people are using baby’s breath as centerpieces, wearing it or on a ceremony arch. (I pinned a ton on my Pinterest wedding board). I made this bouquet specifically for my elopement style engagement photoshoot 🙂

How to make a Baby’s Breath Bouquet in 4 steps

You’ll need:

  • 2 bunches of baby’s breath
  • Floral tape
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors or floral shears
  1. Separate individual stems and clip any stray stems

Laying out the bouquet, carefully untangle each stem and cut them apart to it makes it easier to build the baby’s breath arrangement!

2. Arrange the bouquet

Start with three stems adding one at a time, working in a circle to get the bouquet into the right size and shape. You may need to cut away the lower stems as you work.

3. Wrap with floral tape and ribbon

Floral tape is not sticky (feels like wax paper), but it is stretchy and will adhere to itself when overlapped! So wrap it around the stems tight and press to hold it in place. Make sure to leave enough space at the bottom of the bouquet so that you can continue to give it water before you need it. You can use the ribbon to tie a bow or wrap over the floral tape using a bit of hot glue.

4. Trim the ends

Trim the ends of the stems so it is all the same length.

Baby’s breath bouquets are versatile whether you need it as a bridal bouquet or wedding decor! I’m thinking of how I want to incorporate it into my big day too! I love it because even though baby’s breath LOOK delicate… these babies are a surprisingly long-lasting and hardy flower. After I took it out of water on the day of the shoot, it didn’t wilt or shed flowers all day in the hot sun.

I can’t wait to show you our photos!
